My Combo Chemo-Lupron-Zytigia Mission

By July 10, 2017Bruce

So here I sit. In yet another examining room, waiting for yet another doctor (chemo review today). I am getting ready for another attack on my cancer.

Last week in LA, I had an MRI. This scan shows that there is a small mass (not confirmed to be cancer) in my prostate bed. This is in all likelihood a local recurrence of my prostate cancer. All scans show no metastasis to other areas of the body – yeah.

So anyway, here I am getting ready for a combo chemo-lupron-zytigia mission. I’m feeling great, so let’s throw some drugs and chemo at it…Sorry, I was getting sarcastic…

Which leads into the discussion I had with my neighbor and good friend yesterday while enjoying a warm evening sunset and hibiscus tea with him. My neighbor is 67 and he knows just about everybody in Santa Cruz. I was telling him about this upcoming appointment with the chemo doctor. He listened, paused for few seconds, and then proceeded to tell me about one good friend of ours that is going for a biopsy for bladder cancer. Then another mutual friend that almost died this week because of a triple by-pass surgery gone bad.

So I contemplated that for a few long seconds when it hit me. The three people (including myself) who we were talking about are dealing with life altering and life threatening chronic diseases THAT NEED NOT EVER HAVE OCCURRED.

According to the World Health Organization, diet is now the number 1 killer in the world. We know that prostate and bladder cancer, as well as a host of others, are directly related to long-term inadequate nutrition.

Give your children the best gift you can give them: a lower risk of developing cancer, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, and diabetes. Feed your family a whole food, plant-based diet. You have the power to AVOID what I am going through.
