The Winter Bonus Period

By June 24, 2019Bruce

I’m writing from the Wellness Wagon today, in an RV park, about 8 kilometers west of Quebec City. We have spent most of the early spring in New England and it’s been COLD. There may be four seasons in New England, but none of them are spring. More like a Winter Bonus Period. Having said all of that, I really like the North East for the people and the charming landscape. And Quebec City is like going to Europe without the plane ride! However, we were subjected to an hour-long search of the Wellness Wagon at the Canadian border.

Mindy and I have been traveling in the Wagon now for almost 17 months straight. We have taught One Day To Wellness at least 50 times since starting with about the same amount of lectures. I feel incredibly fortunate and blessed to live such an exciting life of travel that dovetails perfectly with our mission of helping people understand the TRUTH about what health means and how to achieve it. To be completely honest, I really did not know if we were going to be able to pull this whole thing off (living, traveling, and working full time). But a year and a half flew by and we are still chugging along with no plans to stop. I also thought that I would feel unrooted, but now I realize that the “uprootedness” of our life and mission is the key to being satisfied. It doesn’t matter where you are, what matters is connecting with other people FACE TO FACE. I feel completely connected to the plant-based community, which IS my community. My community is not a place, it’s a state of mind that can be pursued and enjoyed anywhere there are humans that want to improve their health. I have discovered that these types of humans include EVERYBODY and they are EVERYWHERE.

A few more musings:

It took me a long time to figure out, but the only true path to happiness and contentment that I personally have discovered is to leave your stupid ego behind and accept that, in order to be fulfilled, you must be unconditionally giving. This means putting the needs of others above your own personal wants. Focusing on helping others unconditionally and honestly is the key to a good life. If you focus your life on your own personal wants it will ultimately lead to feeling isolated, alone, and unhappy.

I am currently on a tear with my quest to create delicious plant-based Indian food without OIL. Stay tuned for some new recipes on our website.

Cancer. Oh yeah. Almost forgot. I have cancer. My PSA is going up but more slowly than last year. The cancer is still there. We are going to continue to monitor my PSA with no treatment intervention until we have a more complete picture of how fast my PSA is rising. I am constantly improving my ability to deal with the black cloud that follows Mindy and me around. I am also going to do another 3-day water only fast in 2 weeks prior to my next blood test. Stand by for an update. As usual, I feel spectacular.
