I’m a huge fan of you and Mindy, having seen you guys at the Toronto Can-Fit-Pro conference for a number of years now. Having been on my own journey of plant-based foods since 2007, I can relate to how past behaviours catch up with us. Really looking forward to your blog!

Whole-food plant-based is the way to great health! I’ve been certified in it since 2009 Bruce.
Dr. Campbell knows his stuff! Great inspiration for others. Keep up the good work. I have some great recipes too if you ever want some.

It’s like changing religions going plant-based. Kudos for your success and of course Mindy’s too.

Your honest and “no filter” blog about your journey through the cancer storm is remarkable. Thank you Bruce for sharing your story. It’s at once terrifying and hopeful. I wish you many, many decades of undetectable PSA results. And, Mike and I are boarding the vegan train. I’m looking forward to learning a ton from you!

    Hi Bruce.
My name is Leah Husk. I am a presenter with DCAC Fitness conventions and work closely with Shannon Elkins in Virginia.

I read your blog with great interest. Glad to know that you are on the mend! Your story is an inspirational one and needs to be shared.

My older brother was diagnosed with MS in 1999 and after some insane conventional treatments, decided to explore the benefits of a diet void of processing, caffeine, alcohol, preservatives, etc.

He practices yoga, exercises and meditates daily.

He has been symptom free for years and his last MRI showed NO lesions on his brain or spinal cord.

He has written a book that you might be interested in reading. If you wish, check it out on his website.

He is a cellist with The Philadelphia Orchestra and a Juilliard Graduate. His book is called When The Music Stopped; My Battle & Victory Against MS.

Even his Doctors were astonished at his recovery.

Take good care of yourself. Hope to see you and Mindy soon at DCAC.

    Bruce,
Thank you for sharing and for everything that you and Mindy do to promote wellness.

I attended a seminar with you last Ausust and was introduced to a plant based diet. I have since read the China Study and my family is (mostly) following a plant based diet. I thought we were following a healthy diet before… But wow what I have learned.

So thank you (both) for sharing what you have experienced and learned, and helping us to be healthier.

Bruce, My daughter, Riley Shaia, from Richmond, VA is one of Mindy’s Master Trainers. I am a member of Mindy’s workout program. My husband, 72, has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. So far we know he had a PSA of 8.14 in May,16 and after a biopsy in June, his Gleason Score of 4+4=8. He has type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardio vascular disease. Due to an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in 2005 and Colon Cancer surgery in 2009, he has heavy abdominal scar tissue so Robotic Radical Prostatectomy is not a possibility. I suspect. conformal EBRT (external-beam radiation therapy) which is a Photon based radiation plus Hormone therapy is what his doctor will be guiding us towards. It has many side effects. We have Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute in Newport News. It is a healthy tissue sparing way of fighting cancer with a 1% risk of any side effects. In a perfect world he would give up meat, dairy, and oil. But my reality is he is a hard-headed meat and butter addict. I have been adding nutrients to his diet, adding tomato paste and cooked tomatoes to as many recipes as possible, giving him black cherries for an evening snack, and cucumbers, carrots, and cherry tomatoes for an afternoon snack. I am going to start substituting vegetable broth for oil, and do my roasted veggies like you and Mindy do them. My next goal is your breakfast drink. (Pray for me! and him). He is being staged tomorrow with a CAT contrast scan and a one scan. Friday we see his Urologist and discuss what kind of treatment protocol we want to follow. I am planning on attending your October 15th seminars in Richmond. Hopefully, I can get him to attend. My sister is on a plant based diet and is going to Dr. Gregor’s seminar in Hilton Head this summer. I know it is all about baby-steps but he needs to take bigger steps due to his present cancer battle. If you have any suggestions please let me know. We have been married for 6 years. He has a lot of unhealthy eating habits. I am a much cleaner eater. I love salads, seed organic bread, all kinds of veggies and fruits. I know he has to want to make the change. I put the three C’s on our refrigerator Chance, Choice, Change (Take a chance and make a choice to change your life.) I hope you are continuing to have good health. Riley thinks so highly of Mindy and you.

It doesn’t appear anyone commented and I’m new to the blog and this is old — but mindfulness is something I have LONG struggled with and am trying to be more “in the moment”. I like what you’ve written and I accept the challenge. ALso — I’m 2 days in to the WFPB meal plan and I’m feeling pretty good — a little bloated 2 days in but I know it’s going to work itself out shortly. THank you for your inspiration and your spunk and your joy of this industry. I am excited to be joining with you in this quest to inform others of what food does in our body. I have spoken all day to clients about changing their meal plans, creating a journal etc. for their new journey! Thank you!

That is such wonderful news! This is Benay Irwin and I spoke with Mindy at SCW in NYC. We discussed our cancer journeys as my husband Howard, has a sarcoma that he is taking an off label chemo drug for daily. I just watched Ty Bollinger “The Truth About Cancer” for Pets and in Episode 2 tonight Dr. Thomas Seyfried, PhD. was one of their sources. He has written a book that is pretty well known (2012) elaborating on Dr Warburg’s claim that cancer is a metabolic disease which originates from the metabolic damage of the mitochondria of our cells, contrary to the conventional belief of the cause being genetic. Although, genetic damage does occur the origin of the cancer is metabolic. It is his belief that the research and money funded is very convoluted as a result, and if the mitochondria damage was studied there would be a more simplistic path to finding a cure. Quite fascinating. He also talks about the ketogentic diet and calorie restriction to kill cancer cells. Dr. Fuhrman was also on this documentary. I was curious if you had considered this “diet approach”??
Thanks for all you do and it is exciting times to see the change in empowerment through the availability of more “truthful” data,
    Benay Irwin
